The initial response to Secondhand Styling has been highly positive. Which, of course, is what I would have hoped for, but in all honesty, it's less about people liking, reading, or watching the content. It's more about the chat that comes out of it.
Last month we shot the first-ever series for Secondhand Styling- this chapter of videos covers everything you need to know when it comes to shopping secondhand and curating a pre-loved closet. I'm so excited to share the tale of secondhand styling and how it came to be, alongside my own story of how this life hack has helped fuel growth positively in my professional and personal career. All of this is covered in the videos that are now available to watch on Youtube.
I know it sounds cheesy but it's as though we are already starting to build a community. Questions are being asked, topics are being covered, and discussions are being had about the world of secondhand shopping. And it's fantastic. It makes me want to do and share more. It's fuelling my passion and helping me carve out a new platform for us secondhand life-stylers to play.
As of now I've chatted to moms who are adopting the secondhand lifestyle for themselves and their children, entrepreneurs who want to look a million dollars on a budget, TV personalities who are utilising their presence to encourage fans to consider the pre-loved way and secondhand lovers who are living their best life in someone else's clothThis is the community I'm already proud to be part of. One that will and already is making a positive impact not only on the planet but also on people.
This initiative is about to speed up, and more and more eyes will be on the world of secondhand. The power it plays in the fashion world is huge and will start to be truly recognised. With that, brands and other companies will want a piece of the pie, and this is where education, critical thinking and discussions need to be had so that the secondhand way is not just a trend but an everlasting mark on the way we change the way we buy.
As we wait until the launch of the series I want to take this time to get to know you. Please share your pre-loved looks and remember to tag #dontneedamilliontolooklikeamillion
You can also get to know me through video, ask questions on our polls, live streams and find out more on our Facebook page. Also, I value your opinion and thoughts, so I have set up a Facebook group to dive a little deeper into the secondhand world.
And then there's the blog- here you will find articles, thoughts and news. Secondhand may be an old chapter, but as with fashion, it's forever changing. I look forward to enjoying the journey with you.
