Styling your winter outfits can often leave you feeling in a rut. You find yourself having to consider several variables, including 1) Staying warm and 2) Being able to move in your many, many layers is another crucial factor. And 3) looking stylish, which can stay at the top of your priority list. But instead of overlooking certain fabrics and patterns because they don't feel in season, I’m here to encourage you to think beyond your typical winter hues and start sourcing other pieces that could be surprisingly the essentials that you never knew you needed.
Blouses
Winter is the time for knits, but if you are like me, you can start to get bored of the regular jeans, sweater, and boots combo, so instead, why not consider blouses as an option. Often overlooked as a dated item of clothing, the blouse can be modern and flattering. The key tip here is to layer accordingly and choose fabrics that will not bulk up, instead fall gracefully over your shape.

Florals
There is a right and wrong way to do floral. You have to remember not to send mixed messages; commit to the season you are in, so choose fabrics and colours wisely, whilst styling different textures accordingly. Don’t try and do too much at once. Most people get that they can layer florals with warmer pieces, but the hard part here is knowing how to do it correctly.
Adding different textures into the mix; chunky wool cardigans, corduroy blazers, lace tights can also go a long way in winterizing your rose or daffodil prints. This SHS pick would look stunning with high length boots, a long cashmere knit and tights.
Linen Slip
We have spoken a ton about layering items to keep you warm this season, but what are some of the key essential layering pieces? My go-to are slips, and you can wear them on their own in the Summer and team them up with multiple pieces in the winter.
Linen is a strong choice in the fabric department. Often seen as a summery fling, it can in fact, be an everlasting love during the cooler weather. Black linen is also a great choice, as you can layer against multiple types of fabrics without fear of a clash.
