Street style is back with a vengeance. This month we have seen Fashion Sourcers, Stylists, Shoppers and Style Icons take the streets. They have been donning cuts, shapes and silhouettes that we may have forgotten about had it not been for the round up of "papped" images gracing our social media platforms.
In all honesty, I've missed the street style! It provides me with inspiration and "copy cat" feels that help me conjure up new outfits and ideas on how to recreate secondhand looks at a fraction of the cost. Observing how the looks are pieced together and analysing why they work, helps fuel ideas for making the street style looks work for my own body and with pieces from my existing closet. So here's some street style vibes to take note of to help influence and heighten your own collection of looks this season.
Knit dress 2.0

This is a secondhand easy discovery. Knit dresses have appeared in throughout so many different decades of fashion- there really is a knit to suit every body shape. Pay attention to quality though and make sure whatever you source, you can care for to help with the longevity of the piece. Knitwear needs TLC.
Dress a knit dress up or down, glamourise it, or streamline the look with functional footwear. However you want to wear your knit, know that you can take that street style and make it your own with a secondhand find.

Leather in the late 80's and early 90's really had a moment. Fast forward to 2021, and it's returning with an unapologetic feel of nostalgia. No need to try and modernise it. Think "Friends" and the "Rom-com" era of entertainment. Leather jackets, waistcoats, trousers and skits. Boxey, square framed and sturdy. Leather additions to your wardrobe that are dependable, with a twist of something from the past. the key to this season's secondhand leather trend is to try not to bring it up to date. Let it own it's decade of fashion.

It's as though we emerged from lockdown wanting to hold on to comfort but embrace the feeling of power through the art of dressing. This is where suits come into play. You can dress them with a sporty edge, feminine finish or tighten up the look with a perfect match up. Either way, the power look is big when it comes to this season's street style. Find out more about how to source the power look that works for you in this week's episode.
