The 70’s style has been around for quite some time now, and this trendy look doesn’t look like it is going anywhere any time soon. Why would we want it to? The end of the hippies and the height of disco culture, the music, the styles, the colours; what a great aesthetic to follow. We’re here to convince you to dust off your GoGo Boots and search through the back of your wardrobes. Some of our top picks are 70s, and we’re here to help you style your pre-loved and forgotten treasures.

Colours

There are so many unique colours and trending colour combinations from this period that it would be too hard to talk about all of them, so here are some of our favorites!

To start with, you can never go wrong with black and white. It is the most classic colour combination of them all. That is why it’s one of our favourites, as it will never go out of style, including from the 70’s up to today. Try finding fun patterns, such as stripes or swirls, to mix it up and add interest to your outfits. This colour mixture also gives a great Disco feel to any look, so try it out for a groovy night out look.

Another favourite was Oranges, Browns, Blues, and Reds. This combination gives us the most well-known colours of the 70’s. This mixture has a vintage and cosy feel, perfect for autumn’s colder and wetter days. These colours are great for everyday and are reminiscent of wholesome 70’s shows, so cosy up in an orange jumper and jeans or perhaps a nice blue dress.

Finally, our last pick is a gorgeous mix of Greens, Yellows, Reds, and Browns. This combination is once again perfect for a casual day. However, if you style it right, maybe try and throw in some chunky jewellery and a pair of GoGo Boots, and you have yourself the perfect night-out style.

Trends

There were some amazing trends in the 70s and so many sub-cultures to pull aesthetic looks from. Look at groups such as Hippies, Disco, Mod, and Rocker for style inspiration. Each of these has its own music, clothes, colour palette, and silhouettes. Some of our favourite trends of the ’70s included oversized collars, GoGo Boots, the classic bellbottoms, and jumpsuits.

The oversized collars were a telltale sign in the 70’s for men; however, nowadays, we think this style looks good on everyone. It plays around with perspectives and sizing, and that's why we love it. Try adding it as a masculine influence to your outfits for a classic 70’s inspired outfit.

GoGo Boots are the feminine touch needed for any groovy 70’s inspired looks. Try styling them with a jumpsuit or a pair of bell-bottom jeans in order to turn any casual outfit into something worth a night out on the town. Or perhaps consider adding them to some more modern outfits to add an extra ’70s flare to the look.

When it comes to jumpsuits and bell bottoms, we think the more, the merrier. They are an absolute staple for any 70’s inspired trends and are worth the hype. Both jumpsuits and bell bottoms look amazing on most body types and will get you feeling like your most confident self in no time. No wonder they are the main attraction in 70’s inspired fashion trends. Try them out in a myriad of colours and pattens for the perfect wardrobe.

Change up already-owned pieces

If you're not looking to change your whole wardrobe but still want to add some touches of this trend to your wardrobe, that’s great. Not only is it easy to switch up your wardrobe with only a few accessories, but it’s a great way to play around with your style to find what you love most. For this, we suggest some chunky jewelley such as bangles and necklaces these are easy to find and can be mixed and matched throughout your wardrobe. Look for wooden textures and colours that match your current style, plus a couple that matches the colours from the decade. Another great way to accessorise is with sunglasses; try to find either big statement pieces or perhaps some smaller rounded frames; choose something you feel the most confident in.
