Copenhagen Fashion Week has passed, and although it may have been raining cats and dogs, indoors was really where the magic happened. We love Scandinavian fashion and expected nothing less from Copenhagen than the best spoiler; we were not disappointed. The general consensus of Copenhagen is the coolest place to spot the next season-defining trends. Therefore, this fashion week and the Scandi women in attendance have definitely changed our approach to cool-girl styling. In response to this, the Secondhand Styling studio has decided to sum up the best parts of Copenhagen fashion to see the new inspiration for this upcoming season.

Canadian Tuxedo

The all-denim look is in a revival from the 90’s. Yes, you read that correctly. Long gone are the Britney-and-Justin connotations; the all denim is back with a bang. Although denim has always been a staple in everyone's wardrobes, this takes it to a new level. The head-to-toe denim look gives denim both a cool and elevated look that really puts fashion lovers into new levels of creativity. Whether it’s mismatching shades and washes or using texture and applique to spice up the look, Y2K-inspired denim looks like it's here to stay for a while.

Earth Tones

After the Barbie pink and hot red takeover, it's time for a palette cleanser in Copenhagen. And it looks like 2024 has this in store. Earthy tones were very big in Copenhagen over fashion week and will just seem to keep growing. There has been a real moment for colour recently, and through autumn, with the predictions of cherry red as a big accent colour the look of natural colours in Copenhagen is a fresh new take. By using more earthy tones, fashionistas are allowing silhouettes and fabrics to take priority and really pull through the more intricate beauty of shape and detail.

Wide Leg Trousers

We all shelved our skinny jeans many years ago now; wide-leg trousers have been a wardrobe staple for the last couple of years as a result. And designers in Copenhagen have said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", as designers are continuing to celebrate the inflated trouser shape. Copenhagen is showing super wide-leg trousers, from tailored pants to slouchy denim. This trend we see growing more and more in popularity as this spreads throughout the mainstream. These silhouettes are something to get familiar with as we don’t see them going anywhere soon in Copenhagen or abroad.

A Defined Waist

In Copenhagen, 2024's take on hyper-femininity seems to revolve around the cinched waist if Fashion Week has any say. After many seasons of drop waists and low-rise fits, it seems that the ultra-cinched waist is coming back in a big way. So if you follow the Scandi style, time to see what waisted tops and dresses you have in your wardrobe; belts and tight fits are all over next year in Copenhagen.

Sculpted Silhouette

Want a look that really stands out from the crowd? Playing with proportions and silhouettes seems to be the next big trend in Copenhagen. From exaggerated shoulders to creative takes on traditional looks. The trend seems to be all about choosing something unique and creating an outfit out of simple pieces. But before you reach for that 90’s bandeau top, try and see if a full-sleeved shirt underneath or even add some wide-leg trousers look good with the look for the full Copenhagen style.

Bold Monochrome

According to Copenhagen's runways, the next colour of the summer will be all of the above. By the looks of it, 2024 will not be about a specific shade of pink, red, or blue but being bold and sticking to it. So enjoy the autumn trend of cherry red pops of colour for 2024 spring/summer will be head-to-toe colour, pattern, or print. Whatever you want as long as it is bright, all over, and bold. We here at SHSUK love a monochrome look, so we suggest the Danes pick a colour or pattern ready for next year and … stick to it.

Sheer chic

While many of us have a comfort zone when it comes to what we want to grab out of our wardrobes, Copenhagen is looking at breaking out of that mould. For the last couple of years, sheer pieces have started becoming more and more popular both on the runway and on the red carpet. Therefore, any Copenhagen residents looking into levelling up their style for summer 2024 need to be ready for things to get a whole lot more risqué. There's nothing ‘sneak peek’ or ‘subtle panelling’ about these sheer looks, so it’s time to look into some nicer bras if you are looking to take part in this trend.

Button-up Style

We love a styling hack from the runway here at SHSUK. Not only can they be used on the runway but also from pieces we already own or can swap and grab quite easily. This trend straight from Copenhagen needs to get picked up soon! Especially when we are trying to slow down on buying new, fresh, off-rack pieces. Therefore, fasten your long shirts and cardigans via a single button (specifically the buttons located at the top of the one located just above your belly button). This is quite a known hack in South Korean and Japanese styles; however, Copenhagen seems to be cementing this styling tip in the West.

Scandinavian girls have a casual simplicity around their lifestyle that can also be seen in the way they dress very easily. We all favour wearable items and high-quality and beautifully made pieces that will never go out of style. And this use of simplicity could really work well for us in England as well. Although we like to get dressed up, having the staples in our wardrobe down should be just as important in our eyes.

So, what can we expect from fashion looking forward to 2024? In short, the re-emergence of a particularly versatile colour, a modern take on hyper-femininity (which has been seen this year through the Barbie takeover), and one Y2K-inspired denim trend that doesn’t look like it’s showing any sign of stopping.
